Corporate Legacy Award - Spirit of Texas Bank

When approached as to what company/organization in the private sector has been the most influential in providing the support needed to make Montgomery County’s CPS initiatives the most successful in Texas, I reported, without a doubt, “Spirit of Texas Bank!”  With each request, this Texas grown institution has maintained the answer “YES”.  Their support has allowed leaders in our State’s plight to improve the lives of foster families to pursue and accomplish great vision.  As Spirit of Texas Bank grows, so has their commitment to Texas’ communities and children.

Community Legacy Award - Houston Texan, Andre Johnson

Andre Johnson was selected because of his generous contribution and welcome of many of our community’s foster children to participate in a Christmas shopping spree of nearly $20,000 last year.  It was not just a transactional act of Christmas cheer, but an experience that impacted the self-esteem, personalities, and view of community and strangers that brought hope and transformation to these youth’s lives.

Goverment Legacy Award - Montgomery County Judge, Alan B. Sadler

Judge Sadler (an elected official) was selected because of his personal and professional commitment in support of the creation of the community collaboration known as the Montgomery County CPS Community Advisory Board.  Montgomery County, under his leadership has produced the most successful collaboration of the public and private sector for the sake of Texas’ foster children in the state of Texas.

Foster Care Legacy Award - Former Foster Youth, Brigette Dechant

Brigette (a former foster child) was selected because of her personal and professional achievements, leadership, and integrity she exhibits as a role model and champion of the pursuit of excellence as a former child within the Texas foster care system.  Brigette currently is employed as a Legislative Analyst for Texas Star Alliance.

Lifetime Legacy Award - Gina Price

 Gina Price is the former President of the Montgomery County Child Welfare Board who had the vision and forethought to create the Montgomery County CPS non-profit in order to meet the growing needs of Montgomery County's growing population.  Ms. Price's is being recognized for the legacy she has build through her forethought and leadership beginning with the Montgomery County CPS Board and throughout the many subsequent years of personal and professional dedication to positively impact in the lives of children within the Texas foster care system.

The Austin Nines Band

Austin Nines is Texas’ hot new full 9-piece dance band that will rock the Montgomery County New Year’s Eve with a custom, high-energy playlist covering everything from classics to the latest hit tunes. Featuring American Idol Finalist, Vincent Powell, The AUSTIN NINES pack a high energy show that will get people moving all night long. They’ve mixed the style and energy of a DJ with the exciting sound and feel of a LIVE interactive band.

Casino 

The casino sponsor is Sam Houston State University's "Pay It Forward" student organization.  The purpose of Pay it Forward is to network SHSU students (both former foster children and non-fosters) interested in supporting Region 6 foster children and those who care for them through volunteer efforts, as well as assisting foster children and foster care alumni with their transition of independence, including but not exclusive to enrolling, attending, and succeed at SHSU.  Casino prizes will be drawn from the casino ticket winnings after the midnight tribute.  Guests may put whatever amount of their winnings in bowls for various items for the drawing.

New Year’s Eve

Join us for an evening under the Texas stars at the La Torretta Resort for dinner, dancing, and a very special midnight celebration all benefiting the Montgomery County’s abused and neglected children.

All ticketed guest will receive a commemorative champagne glass; enjoy a midnight fireworkds tribute over Lake Conroe to the live performance of American Idol Finalist Wendy Taylor; dancing until 2:00 AM to the sounds of Texas' own Austin Nines Band featuring American Idol Finalist Vincent Powell
